I miss Alchemy

  • Feb. 8th, 2008 at 12:59 AM
WTF?
Open bar is nice, but not so nice on a Thursday night, and really no good if the only person you recognize is a friend of a friend who either doesn't remember you, or just doesn't give a fuck.

Also, rum does not make pretentiousness go away.  I'll try again a couple times, but I really fucking miss Alchemy, despite the fact that I don't have to drive across the Anacostia to get there.

Apparently LJ is eating my comments. Here it is again in abridged form. . .

I hear that. But you have a new place to live now, which is HUGE. I'm so happy for you guys.

You're not the only one EEE. I had that same awkward feeling when I went to Arcadia during my last visit. The scene is changing rapidly, I guess.

heh.

BTW... Going to Black Sun this year?

I think LJ ate my comment. Gah!

Short version:
Hopefully people get used to the changes, the night stays long enough for more people to come, and the old feel comes back. Or. . . all the angsty kids are growing up emo, and we're all just a dying breed. This alone makes me want to put on a hoodie and cry with the emo kids.

Not sure yet about Blacksun. I didn't schedule yet since Seema's birthday is that weekend, and now. . . well, she's going to Cali for the weekend now, but it's a lot more expensive to get a ticket and hotel room that it would have been a few months ago. I may change my mind though.

You're an amusing drunk when you come home from the club and write messages that randomly turn into conversation about Faulkner :-P.

I didn't know you still went to goth clubs. But, if you'd want to go to a club in general, how about we go to Chaos? :-P Or Town, Viva at least used to work there.

Yes, Chaos is where they have drag queen bingo, and I was somewhat joking. Unless you'd really get a kick out of it, and then I'd say let's go sometime if we have nothing else to do.

Town is where Viva works at. It's another LGBT club (though mostly gay men, grmph), but it sounds like it could possibly be cool for everyone. Here's Town's website, and a review on it.

But I, too, do not go out to clubs that often. Because I'm getting too old and settled for them, and because I already have a guy and he's not a raver DJ clubgoing boy.

Accidentally deleted the last comment. Gah!

I've been curious about the Drag Queen bingo for a while now. Seema's been, but I couldn't make it then. It may be a possibility once I can get my shit in order. Whenever that is . . . Gah.

My only reservation about Drag Queen Bingo is that it's on Tuesdays. Now, if it were Fridays or Saturdays, that would rock. But Tuesdays are choir practice, not to mention I have to get up at either 5AM or 6AM on Wednesday morning to get to work on time. If we close on a Wednesday, and you have your shit in order, I would love to go to Drag Queen Bingo with you. Or I s'ppose I can ask for a morning shift off on Wednesday, but I'd need to know far in advance and figure out what my excuse to Clara would be. I think you need reservations for Drag Queen Bingo, anyway.

They also have a drag queen night of some sorts on Saturday. That I would definitely go to with no second thoughts.
